A civil wedding is fully legal and binding worldwide; it involves gathering documents such as your passports, birth certificates and a certificate of no impediment, having them apostilled and officially translated into Greek, and applying for a marriage licence at the local municipality. What's the difference between a civil and a symbolic ceremony?

A civil ceremony is legally binding and requires official documentation and a licence from the Greek municipality. A symbolic ceremony carries no legal weight but gives you total freedom over the location, the timing and who officiates — so many couples complete the legal formalities quietly at home and save the meaningful celebration, often at sunset, for Santorini. Both are beautiful; I'll help you choose the route that fits your plans and your paperwork.

When is the best time of year to marry in Santorini?

May, June, September and early October are the loveliest months — warm, clear and calmer than high summer, with golden light and long, romantic evenings. July and August are hot and busy, which some couples adore for the energy. Spring and autumn shoulder seasons give you comfortable weather, better venue availability and a more relaxed island. The famous Santorini sunset, of course, shows up year-round.

How far in advance should we book?

For a full wedding in peak season, twelve to eighteen months is ideal — the best venues and photographers book out early, and an unhurried timeline is simply more enjoyable. Intimate weddings and elopements can often come together in a few months. If your date is close, reach out anyway; I take on a limited number of weddings each season and will tell you honestly what's possible.

How does planning work when we live abroad?

Almost entirely remotely, and it works beautifully. We plan over video and phone calls, shared documents and plenty of photos and video walk-throughs, so you can make every decision without flying back and forth. I'm on the ground in Santorini attending site visits and vendor meetings on your behalf, which means you get local knowledge and a trusted pair of eyes without the travel.

How will our guests travel to Santorini and where do they stay?

Guests reach Santorini by air into the island's airport (JTR) — direct from many European cities in season, or via Athens — or by ferry from the port of Piraeus in Athens. Most couples base themselves and their guests around Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani and Fira for the caldera views, with a wider range of stays a short drive away. I'm happy to share accommodation recommendations and help with group transfers.

What does a typical planning timeline look like?

We begin with a questionnaire and a relaxed introductory call. Once you decide to work with me, we reserve your date and I build a detailed timeline of milestones — venue and vendors first, then design and florals, then the finer details and legal documentation as the day approaches. In the final weeks we confirm every supplier and walk through the schedule together, so the day itself unfolds without you having to manage a thing.

How many guests can you plan for?

Anything from just the two of you to a full destination celebration. I plan elopements, intimate gatherings of around thirty, and larger weddings — and because this is a boutique studio rather than an agency, every couple is planned personally, by me, from start to finish.

Do you only plan weddings?

No — while weddings are the heart of what I do, I also plan vow renewals, proposals, anniversary celebrations, milestone birthdays and private and corporate events in Santorini. If you have an occasion worth marking on this island, I'd love to hear about it.
